E-zone School Shines at the 2024 WordPress in Education Showcase in Masaka

On the 6th of April 2024, close to 100 students representing schools in Uganda converged at Masaka Social Centre for the WordPress in Education event organised by the WordPress Masaka Meetup under the able leadership of Moses Ssebuwufu. The objective of the event was to provide students in Uganda with the opportunity to showcase their groundbreaking WordPress projects, including websites, e-learning platforms built on WordPress, interactive educational resources, student portfolios, and more.

Rogers Mukalele, one of the leaders in the WordPress community in Uganda was the event MC.

The event, that acted as a pre-event for the upcoming 2024 Uganda Website Competition attracted students mainly from within Masaka with a surprise team from St. Edwards SS Bukuumi all the way from Bunyoro Sub Region.

Our Projects

E-zone School of Computing featured 2 teams with one team taking first position and the second taking 3rd position. One first team presented LearnHUb, an eLearning solution for out of school leaners. The team consisted of Marcus, Patricia and Tasha their lead.

Our second team of Shadrack, Najib and their lead Ndejje Moses presented the Find My School project, a project that intends to simplify the process of looking for a suitable school basing on preferences’ set by the learner or parent.

Awards, Connections and Farewells

At the climax of the event, the 3 winning teams where awarded their certificates from the WordPress Masaka Meetup, hosting space from Cursor Web Host and Kasirye Labs. The winning team will also receive a MacBook Air.

A vote of thanks goes to William Jackson of My Quest to Teach and MetaverseWP who facilitated the entire E-zone team with all the finances that were needed to make it to the WordPress in Education showcase. Besides the financial assistance, Mr. Jackson was also involved in mentoring and preparing the team for the showcase.
